A Letter to Momo is Best Animated Feature Film winner at the 6th annual APSAs

November 26, 2012

Hiroyuki Okiura's second directorial effort, A Letter to Momo was greeted with the Best Animated Feature Film Award at the 6th annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony held on November 23, 2012 in Brisbane, Australia. This year's jury was led by Jan Chapman, acclaimed producer of the Academy, Golden Globe and Palme d'Or-winner The Piano. The other four nominees in the same category were Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children, Goro Miyazaki's From up on Poppy Hill, Atsutoshi Umezawa's Rainbow Fireflies and George Miller's Happy Feet 2.

The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) acclaims, at a global level, the cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia-Pacific region. Supported by UNESCO and FIAPF-International Federation of Film Producers' Associations, the initiative honours the works of filmmakers across a vast region stretching from Egypt in the west to the Cook Islands in the east, and from Russia in the north to New Zealand in the south. In total, an area representing 4.5 billion people; 60 percent of the global population; 70 countries and areas; one third of the earth; and half the world's film output.

An unprecedented total of 264 films were entered in this year's competition across the Asia Pacific region, with 34 films from 18 countries and areas being honoured with nominations in the region's highest accolade in film.
