A Letter to Momo wins Platinum Grand Prize at the Future Film Festival 2012

April 3, 2012

Hiroyuki Okiura's highly anticipated second directorial effort, A Letter to Momo was greeted with the Platinum Grand Prize for the Best Feature Film at the 14th Future Film Festival, held in Bologna, Italy from March 27 to April 1, 2012.

A Letter to Momo competed, among the others, with Bibo Bergeron's A Monster in Paris, Makoto Shinkai's Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, and Tomás Lunák's Alois Nebel.

The screening at the Future Film Festival marked the movie's Italian premiere.

The jury described A Letter to Momo as follows:
"A compelling coming-of-age story dealing with important themes such as loss and sense of guilt, but unconventionally elaborated through humour-filled and heart-moving narrative paths, and featuring a visually essential and meticulously accurate animation rendering."

The Future Film Festival is one of the most prominent international genre film festivals in Italy, showcasing the latest trends of digital technology and animation (whether 2D or 3D) in modern filmmaking.
