A Letter to Momo wins Best Feature Film Prize at AniFest 2012

Hiroyuki Okiura's highly anticipated second directorial effort, A Letter to Momo won the Best Feature Film Prize at the 11th AniFest, held in Teplice, Czech Republic from April 26 to May 1, 2012. In the past editions, The Triplets of Belleville, Persepolis and In the Attic were awarded in the same category. A Letter to Momo is the first Japanese feature film to be honoured with the festival's top prize.

The jury, composed of animation professionals from the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Syria, Portugal and USA, motivated the award as follows: "Solid direction, writing, pacing and a strong narrative core."

Established in 2002, AniFest is an ASIFA-recognized competitive festival of animated production for film professionals, artists and animation lovers that builds on the famous tradition of Czech animated film and offers a unique opportunity to become familiar with the best of contemporary world and Czech animation work. The festival attracts more than 20,000 people every year.
