Asience: Hairy Tale, the creative challenge directed by Kazuto Nakazawa for Kao Corporation, is one of the 94 animated films selected for the Grand Competition of the 18th World Festival of Animated Film (Animafest Zagreb 2008), to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, from May 31 to June 5, 2008.

The Grand Competition Committee members who selected the works were Maureen Furniss (USA), Midhat Ajanović (Sweden) and Dušan Gačić (Croatia).

The World Festival of Animated Film in Zagreb was founded in 1972 and is traditionally the second oldest festival in Europe. In the course of its thirty-year-old history it has systematically been following world animation production through a number of films in competition and out of competition. Built on the tradition of the Zagreb School of Animation, Animafest, the festival oriented towards auteur film, has made a reputation of being one of the most significant events in the domain of animated film. The World Festival of Animated Film in Zagreb is approved by ASIFA (International Animated Film Association).
