Oblivion Island wins Visual Technology Award

April 15, 2010

In recognition of its outstanding technical achievements, Shinsuke Sato's Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror received the Visual Technology Award for the animation section of the 9th annual Video Technology Awards, sponsored by the Motion Picture and Television Engineering Society of Japan.
The same recognition was awarded last year to Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo.

Established in 1947 as the Motion Picture Engineering Society of Japan, and then renamed Motion Picture and Television Engineering Society of Japan since 1965, the society is made up of companies and organizations involved in film and television (corporate members) and people engaged in film and television engineering (individual members). It is the only nonprofit organization in Japan to encompass all aspects of motion picture and television engineering within the scope of its activities. The society has established several annual awards in recognition of outstanding technical achievements and personal contributions.
