The Girl from the Other Side official selection at Hiroshima 2020

September 1, 2020

The Girl from the Other Side short film, directed by Yutaro Kubo and Satomi Maiya, is part of the official selection of the 18th Hiroshima International Film Festival (Hiroshima 2020). The short has been included in the Japanese Animation Today program, that showcases recent high quality works made by Japanese animation filmmakers. The on-site festival, scheduled between August 20 and 24, did not take place due to the global COVID-19 emergency, but awards were announced on August 24.

The Hiroshima International Animation Festival is an ASIFA-recognized, Oscar- and Annie Awards-qualifying biennial animation festival held in the city of Hiroshima. Established in 1985 under the spirit of LOVE & PEACE, the festival is dedicated to the advancement of visual media art culture in general, by promoting international cross-cultural exchanges through the development of animation art. Today, the Hiroshima Animation Festival is considered as one of the world Big Four animation festivals, along with Annecy, Zagreb and Ottawa.
