Sixth grader Naota spends his days like something out of a Sci-Fi story living with a female alien and a robot. But of course he still has to attend school events.
In a school play, Naota's class decides to perform on stage "Puss 'N Boots." Naota is the cat. The main character was given to the class rep Eri Ninamori. Not happy with the part he's given, Naota is forced to attend rehearsals with Ninamori. Even though she may be arrogant and bossy, she also has her own troubles. Her father, who is the mayor of Mabase, was caught in a scandal and his position is in question. There is also talk of divorce, so the girl's heart has been shaken up. Nevertheless, she desperately hides her troubles. Naota is also hiding something: his fuzzy cat ears popping out from his head. The two, hiding their respective secrets, become accomplices of sorts. "The King has an ass's ears!" When Ninamori couldn't keep the secret to herself and says it out loud, the mysterious robot once again appears! Go, Robot Kanchi, go! Go, Space Inspector Haruko, go!
