A self-proclaimed alien and a robot come to live in Naota's home.
Naota lives in the suburban city of Mabase and odd things suddenly begin to pop up and fill his life. A horn starts growing on his head and his brain gradually exhibits abnormal symptoms. Meanwhile, there is a serial arsonist on the loose in town. Could there be a connection? Naota happens to remember the elementary school destroyed by fire six years before. That was when he met Mamimi, a high school student who often makes strange comments. But now she starts to identify Kanchi, the robot, with the deity Fire Starter in her game. When the game and the reality, as well as the stories of the past and the present, become blurred together, Naota's head starts to get very strange.
